11 May, 2022

On 31st January 2022, H.E. Ambassador Opunimi Akinkugbe and Minister Counselor, Mr. Patricious Ujagbor received the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Greece, H.E. Mohammed Sbihi on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Embassy in Athens. Discussions centered on matters of strategic cooperation and our commitment to continue the friendship and collaboration that exists between our two African nations.

“The Moroccan-Nigerian Gas Pipeline has been referred to as ‘the Pan African project of the Century’ due to its impact on many countries in the African continent. The construction of the pipeline is intended to supply gas to 15 West African countries, in addition to the reduction of gas flaring in Nigeria, which aims to diversify the nation’s energy resources. It should also contribute to the fight against desertification by using gas as a reliable and sustainable form of energy in the sub-region and wealth creation and poverty reduction by opening up opportunities for economic growth in the sub-region. The construction is expected to take place in several phases and meet the growing needs of the crossed countries and of Europe over the next 25 years. This is a fine example of inter African partnerships.”
