Virtual Conference: Prospects and Opportunities for Greek Entrepreneurs In Nigeria

11 May, 2022

On 23rd March 2022, Ambassador Opunimi Akinkugbe participated in the Virtual Conference on “Prospects and Opportunities for Greek Entrepreneurs in Nigeria”. The conference was organised by the Hellenic-African Chamber of Commerce and Development, under the auspices of SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE).

The conference brought together government officials and businesses from Nigeria and Greece and discussed issues relating to trends and development in the Nigerian economy, investment climate, as well as, trade and investment opportunities in Nigeria.

In her remarks, Ambassador Akinkugbe emphasised the need for greater collaboration and partnership between Nigeria and Greece. In her words, “We are not here to pretend that our nation does not face enormous challenges, however, the popular narrative, a narrow perspective of doom and gloom is a very myopic view of our great country and can lead one to miss out on the opportunities that abound. I am convinced that the opportunities that remain largely untapped, and the extraordinary possibilities that they present, far outweigh the many challenges.”

In attendance: Amb. Ioannis Plotas, Greek Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Sotiris Mousouris, President of Hellenic-African Chamber of Commerce & Development, Amb. Maria Louisa Marinaki, DG, Î’ Directorate General for International Economic Relations of the Greek Foreign Ministry, as well as brilliant presentations from NIPC, NIMASA, FMN Agro-Allied, Metka West Africa, TNP, KPMG, and Stanbic IBTC, and a number of relevant stakeholders.
